[i]miniera: I just realized

That I have some snowflake cookies on my user page! Yes, I am that dense. Thanks [info]mabiana, [info]entrenous88, and [info]denyce! They're so fun and pretty and make me want to eat cookies RIGHT NOW!

Still suffering from my migraine, if it's not gone by Friday I'll call the Dr and see if I can go in and get a shot to break the cycle. For some reason my pills aren't working which is very unusual.

I got a christmas card from [info]libco! Thanks so much sweetie.

Okay, it's 10:45 now and I need to try again to get some sleep as I have to get up at 4:30 so I can be at work on time. Night all!

[i]miniera: Tired and sickly

Last weekend was spent baking. Started this weekend off with decorating the house, doing the last of the shopping - only I still have to go out at least once more as one of the big presents for DH will have to be ordered - and doing my Christmas cards for work. I had other plans for today but the migraine that's been hanging at the fringes for the last week settled in to stay today. DH was wonderful about making sure I took my meds and took it easy but I still feel bad. I guess I scared him a bit, he kept asking me how I was doing and told me I was super pale. I'd like to take another pill now but that would most likely mean no sleep tonight and I need to get my rest.

Tomorrow we go back to the surgeon to make sure DH is okay for the second surgery. If all looks good they'll start the process to get it scheduled. He's in a really positive frame of mind right now, I hope that holds through the actual surgery.

It was rather cold here last week but it's warming up nicely now. We're expecting rain most of this week. I'd rather have some snow but I could pass on the ice. It was so cold our fish pond froze over with several inches of ice. We have a small opening for the pump so the fish can get oxygen but that's it. The sooner that melts the better. The plug for the main pump blew in the cold and froze while we were sleeping. Once it thaws we'll check it out and see if it was ruined by freezing. I sure hope not as those are super expensive. And this one is brand new! Not even a year old yet I don't think.

Night all, stay warm and safe!

[i]ngaio: Today

So I'm not carrying a stone baby. Which is good. ... OK, so it's not like I was expecting to be told I was carrying a stone baby but it was an ultrasound and I had weird thoughts/dreams last night and then freaked Allegra out in the car. In fact the answer is that my insides are fine and dandy. Which I am happy about. But at the same time it'd be nice if there was something small wrong which could be fixed and solve the problem you know? Or at least give me ammunition for my 'please just remove my womb' argument.

There's this t-shirt I want making. When my dept. were out on Thursday I was slapping my boss (Wizard) upside the head every time he got too loud so we didn't get chucked out of the restaurant. And then was sitting with my hands in boxercise guard position threatening to hit him. I forgot that Wizard used to teach martial arts and can kill you with his pinky finger, and he told me my guard position was wrong and corrected it. So I'm there with my right hand in the right place and my left hand in the right place and him going 'and your elbow has to be close in to your side' whereupon I looked down and uttered the immortal words: 'I have topographical issues' ... so now I really want a t-shirt, possibly scoop necked, which says 'topographical issues' on it!

Thank you [info]phoebesmum, [info]ruric, and [info]llaras for the snowflakes. I'm now really wanting shortbread but luckily we've not got any in the house so that's OK.

It's raining. But the birds have discovered the feeders so I'm happy.

[i]ngaio: Cards

So I managed to actually send cards to everyone who answered my poll (technically I've actually just written them, tomorrow I'll send them!) though not the possibly planned parcels (I'll do those in the new year).

So - if you didn't answer the poll and would like a card, please let me know. Comments here are screened or you can email me at ngaio dot wimsey at gmail dot com

[i]ngaio: Wow

I have been, for me, amazingly productive this weekend.

I have:

Washed and refilled the bird-feeders, including mixing suet and meal worms (ew!) into the seed for some proper winter food for the birds.
Rehung said bird-feeders. Hopefully the birds will find them again soon.
Put all my clean clothing away (which could be a problem when the next lot of washing dries as I'm out of hangers).
Had my lip, chin and eyebrows waxed
Reduced my open tabs down from around 30 to my usual 8
Washed up (I'll admit, I don't normally do this, Henry does, but I was feeling virtuous!)
Watched Mansour Bahrami my sexy Iranian tennis playing boyfriend 'perform' at the Albert Hall (OK, that's not productive per se but oh boy was it fun!)
Visited fandom-colleague (with Allegra and Dylan) and introduced him to the world of fanvids, and watched The Plan and a few bits of BSG ephemera and now I really need to watch the whole thing (I stopped about a quarter of the way into the first series) - my February holiday may be entirely TV based!
Organised all my fanvids on my hard-drive as I realised that having grabbed a whole lot in October I'd never sorted them
Written and addresses Christmas cards to all people who answered my poll ages ago (there will be a related post after this on this topic)

And tomorrow (day off) I have to:
Go to the hospital for an ultrasound
Possibly go to the gym
Do a bunch of brought home work
*Post* the Christmas cards
Answer LJ comments

...

Remind me to tell you about my t-shirt I want somewhen.

[i]miniera: Hi all!

It's been almost a month since I last posted, I've been reading and commenting a little, so I thought I'd catch everyone up.

DH is doing great finally. He's all recovered (except that he isn't because it takes about a year to fully heal from surgery) and getting ready for the next surgery. Which should be the last unless something goes wrong. I expect that will happen shortly after Christmas.

Which is why I did all my shopping a couple of weeks ago. I have a couple of items to pick up for DH but everything else is done and boxed up to be mailed. Actually, it's been boxed up for over a week. They spent all of last week riding in the back of my car. I wonder if the shipping place is open tomorrow? If not I'll do it some time next week.

Today was a relaxing and productive day. Very cold out, our frost never went away. I cancelled my plans (wow, grocery shopping) in favor of staying in and baking. I now have about 12 dozen cookies for the Christmas season, most of which are in the freezer. I may bake some more next weekend but after 5 hours of baking I'm done for the weekend.

I also put the last of the storm windows up to keep the cold out. Or more of the cold out.

Did I mention I messed up my ankle somehow? I did and it's now about 2 months since. Saw the Dr. who didn't find anything wrong that can be fixed. He's thinking tendonitis. All I know is it hurts if I try to wear any of my heels. ::pouts::

Work is.....painful but neccessary. Enough said.

Okay, off to do some last minute stuff before I start to gear down for the evening.
